'Niyama Sameeksha And Legal Literacy Programs - 2002'

'Niyama Sameeksha' (NISA, The Legal Observer) in its each issue focuses on topics of legal importance disseminating views of all shades and colours.

The release of each issue itself is made an occasion for Legal Literacy. Invariably a seminar is also organized to synchronize with the release of each issue by "Niyama Sameeksha".

Niyama Sameeksha is having a slot in kochi FM station to broad cast legal news under the Caption NIYAMA VEDHI through which public is informed about the important judgments of various Courts. Some of the recent broadcasts from FM are Family Court Judgments, Consumer Forum Judgments and other legal themes.

Niyama Sameeksha is aimed to bring about legal literacy among the people of the lowest strata of the society who are quite often victims of exploitation.

They are at times even denied basic facilities of life. Slum dwellers, juvenile delinquents, laboureres, head load workers, and persons engaged in odd jobs require special attention being people deprived of basic facilities of life.

The areas where low-income groups live remain backward for lack of initiative, coupled with their ignorance. It is also experienced that some times the affluent sections choose the back Ward areas for dumping their waste, threatening their health and the very existence of the under privileged classes. Local bodies, despite their statutory duty, opt to remain indifferent even in the face of such inhuman and derogatory actions.

Being an organization having direct information about such activities, we propose to take up some initiative in bringing awareness among backward classes regarding their legal rights and remedies available in law to ameliorate their sufferings.

In doing so it translates into action many messages of Sree Narayana Guru in social justice area. His pronouncement that "There is no greater teacher than reading" is followed with all  spheres of activities.
