We have been able
to bring about fully successful results in 6
cases, for which eloquent expressions of
gratitude have been received by Niyama Sameeksha.
We have given legal advice to 137 cases.
In the light of the reports of the successful
operation of NORKA-NISA activities, very many
individuals and Organisations have appealed to
us for assistance by way of legal advice.
We have already espoused the cause of some of
the Non-Resident Keralites before the Government
also.
We have already had interacted with the
Minister, NRI affairs at the centre and
Dy.Minister for External Affairs on the
protection and promotion of the interests of
Non-Resident Keralites.

1) Mr. X , Kuwait
: Two parcels sent from Kuwait were seen
missing. We made an enquiry in Parcel office.
Soon thereafter party informed us his gratitude
in receiving the parcels.
2) Mrs X, UAE : During 1997, she gave
Rs.50,000/- to a person in Changanassery for
arranging admission to her son. The said person
cheated Mrs. X. We contacted Changanassery
police station, and when they enquired about the
matter, the opposite party contacted us and said
that he is ready to settle the matter. He has
sent two cheques for Rs.50,000/- to our office,
which is to be given to Mrs.Xl.
3) Mr X , Qatar : 2 years back he had applied
for electric connection to his newly built
house. Due to some obstruction from his
neighbour, electric connection was not given to
his house. We immediately contacted the ADM,
Trichur, thereafter ADM enquired into the matter
and a day before Onam, electric connection was
given to Mr.X’s house.
4) Mr. X : His wife went to Kuwait with the help
of one travel agent in Kochi. But she informed
the family that she is undergoing physical and
mental harassment, and wants to come back. We
immediately sent fax message to the Embassy and
within 10 days they made all necessary
arrangements to bring her back. Her husband
informed us that she reached here safely and the
message was conveyed to Indian Embassy, Kuwait.
5) Mr.X : Working in Switzerland. He wanted to
make correction of date of birth in Panchayat
records. We made all necessary help to him.
Later the party informed that he got the date of
birth corrected in Panchayat records.
6) Mr X : Working in Dubai. His wife had applied
for Passport in Passport office, Kozhikode
during May, 2004. Mr.X was planning to take his
wife to UAE, by the end of August, 2004. We
contacted Passport office, Kozhikode and the
next week itself, Mr.X informed us that his wife
got her passport.
PENDING
CASES REFERRED TO GOVERNMENT
1) Mr X : Regarding renewal of plumbing license.
We contacted Kerala Water Authority and
forwarded the reply received from KWA to Mr.X.
2) Mr X : Regarding renewal of Passport. We
contacted Passport Officer, Kochi. An amount of
Rs.19820/- is pending from Mr.X towards
repatriation charges. We have contacted the
Ministry of External Affairs to waive the
repatriation charges.
3) Mr X : Invested shares in a company. Later
company was liquidated. Sent letter to
Registrar, Supreme Court to know the position of
the case pending. Got reply from the Registrar.
4) Mr. X : Claiming balance wages from a
shipping company. Notice sent to the company and
reply received.
5) Mr X : Cheating by Travel Agency. Contacted
DGP Sreelekha I.P.S.
Matter now pending in Ernakulam Police Station.
6) Mr X : Obstruction caused by Girder placed in
front of his gate by railway authorities. Letter
has been sent to Divisional Officer, Olavakkode.
7) Mr X : Nuisance caused to his wife and
children from some anonymous persons. Letter
sent to S.P., Pathanamthitta, to enquire into
the matter.
